Democratic Rectangles

Using nine rectangles of the same size, these panels bring together a visual story. The instructions were to have a character think about something. This character ponders what he sees, until he realizes what happened to him. It is a piece that might take a few reads before the message sinks in fully. The panels, speech balloons, thought bubbles, and text are all digitally created. The rest is hand drawn. The primary palette is black and white, with specific additional highlights. (1 page)
